1. install the new handheld software to your PC. When finished, find the folder (c: program files common files research in motion apploader), then remove the Vile vendor.xml.
2. Open the BlackBerry Desktop Manager. Connect your BlackBerry. If the application upgrade notification appears, select cancel. Make a backup of data. Select Backup and Restore, then click Backup
3. Backup process will only apply to some departments only. Example is the contact, profile settings, the menu layout etc. for that, if required to do also backup third-party applications.
4. select the application loader from Desktop Manager main menu. Tick the important applications and clear the unnecessary applications. Or leave as initial conditions.
5. select “do not automatically back up and restore the device application data during the loading process”, then click next. If you’re satisfied, click finish. The upgrade process will soon take place. Usually need 30 minutes – 1 hours. Do you repeat that, please do not unplugged or turn off the PC for fear it would disrupt the system.
6. after completion, cell phone will reboot itself. Perform restore data. From the Desktop Manager main menu, select Backup and Restore. Then select restore, locate the file that you store the backup, then click next. Finish.
